Premium semi-flush connection with high tensile strength for Shale applications

A gas-tight integral premium connection with high tensile rating (90% of pipe body strength) and torque capacity, making it ideal for production casing in the Shale plays.

The tapered two-step thread design means that it stabs deep with very low risk of cross-threading. The gas-tight metal-to-metal seal location (in front of the torque shoulder) also provides a good protection from handling damages.

  • Internal pressure rating: 100% pipe body
  • Tension capacity: up to 90% pipe body
  • Compression capacity: up to 63% pipe body (70% Connection)
  • Gas sealability validated as per a specific protocol representative of shale lifecycle, including frac-cycles and combined loads at elevated temperature and bending, as well as API RP 5C5 CAL-II load cycles
  • Optimized design providing both torque and tension capacity in a single integral product for the long laterals of shale wells
  • Excellent jump-out resistance with 10° hooked load flank

  "VAM® SG was specifically developed to offer customers in US Shale plays like Haynesville a unique solution for the production casing string, offering at the same time the tensile strength, the torque capacity and the clearance needed for the long laterals. It enabled to replace the mixed string design, that consisted in a Threaded and coupled at the top, and a semi-flush in the lower section, as there was no integral connection that could meet all the performances. Thanks to VAM SG, the well design and operations were made easier, without the need for cross-overs, and a single inventory of joints and accessories, which saved time and money for operators."
