Unconventional wells are characterized for high burst pressures and flow rates resulting from the completions program, mixed with sour environments, and highly deviated well designs. These standardized well designs use batch drilling and cost-effective materials to help maintain total well cost. Since the early 2000’s, Vallourec has been developing a wide portfolio of cost-effective grades specially designed for unconventional wells.

API Enhanced offer is based on:
- Lean chemistry design and consistency over time.
- Strict manufacturing process. All aspects of the manufacturing process from melting to threading, are similarly controlled resulting in a more controlled product.
- Enhanced collapse properties: based on higher Specified Minimum Yield Strength (SMYS) or API 5C3 – Annex G approach thanks to physical collapse tests performed during production.
- Joint lengths are consistently held on the very high end of API length tolerances creating efficiencies for operators. Less connections are required to be made up for each string saving valuable rig time.
