Tubular Orientation Services by VAM® Field Service

VAM® Field Service technicians can provide Assembly Orientation either at the workshop or on-site at the rig. This service ensures precise alignment of various completion assemblies. As wells become increasingly complex with numerous control lines and connected assemblies, or when avoiding string rotation while landing the hangers is necessary, the orientation service supports your operations. It ensures optimal alignment while maintaining the integrity of the entire string.

Benefits
Benefits
Reduced downtimes
Minimize costly human errors, reworks, and breakouts. No more guesswork aligning the hanger during landing.
Streamlined installations
Ensure all parts are made up and aligned during assembly preparation at your workshop or on the pipe deck for faster run-in-hole operations.
Product expertise
A VAM® Field Service technician will ensure the efficient installation of the oriented connection and support run-in-hole operations.
Solution
Solution

A VAM® Field Service technician will be on-site with a batch of couplings or pup-joints with offset connections to:

  • Define the precise angle to be compensated using our calibrated setting block (Barrette®) system.
  • Assist in the make-up operation to ensure perfect make-up with full alignment and  connection performance.
  • Provide support during the run-in-hole operations.
Use Case
Use Case
  •  Align your production tubing hanger to the well head without rotating your string while using a fully performant premium connection – around 30 minutes vs 6-8 hours of the conventional trial-and-error approach (94% faster).
wellhead alignment
  • Align all your completion assemblies to ensure cables pass directly through their slots without twisting between assemblies.
  • Align your offset assemblies so they can enter the casing without sticking.
  • Save costs by procuring a T&C connection instead of a complex swivel joint.
Story
Success Story

A customer operating in the Caspian Sea encountered a significant challenge during offshore operations. The task required precise timed machining of couplings assembled with pup joints to align subassemblies. This alignment was crucial for installing the completion on the wellhead without rotating the string. The Orientation service by VAM® Field Service service played a vital role in significantly reducing the risk of entangling the fiber optic cables used for well monitoring.

  • Achieved an orientation accuracy of 5°
  • Offered a wide range of possibilities with different setups of timed couplings and pup joints.
  • Benefited from the product's good feasibility and the proximity of the VAM® licensee.
  • Reduced the operation time from 6-9 hours to just 30 minutes.

"The VAM® Field Service team provided an exceptional solution, ensuring precise alignment and efficient installation, significantly enhancing operational safety and performance."
